Donald Devine

Donald J. Devine is an American political scientist, author, former government official and politician who has studied, written and promoted the philosophy of conservative fusionism as taught to him by the U.S. philosopher Frank Meyer.

Devine served as Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management during the Reagan Administration. He was an academic both before and after his government service, teaching at the University of Maryland and Bellevue University. He is a Senior Scholar with The Fund for American Studies, an adjunct scholar at The Heritage Foundation, and a Trustee of the Philadelphia Society.

Born in Bronxville, New York, Devine earned an undergraduate degree from St. John’s University and graduate degrees from Brooklyn College and Syracuse University. He is married to the former Ann Smith; the couple has four children and fourteen grandchildren.
