Edward Timperlake

Edward T. Timperlake, who served in both the Reagan and George H.W. Bush Administrations, is the co-author of two books exploring the China threat, including the bestselling Year of the Rat: How Bill Clinton and Al Gore Compromised U.S. Security for Chinese Cash and the follow up book, Red Dragon Rising: Communist China’s Military Threat to America. Both books were co-authored by William C. Triplett II. Timperlake is currently working on his third book with co-author Jed Babbin entitled Showdown: Why China Wants War with the United States to be published by Regnery in May 2006.

Timperlake is currently an investigator for issues on national security and international financial crimes. During the first Bush Administration, he was appointed as an Assistant Secretary for Public and Intergovernmental Affairs, where he was a member of the Desert Storm Communications Task Force. He also served as professional staff member of the Committee on Rules in the U.S. House of Representatives and was the Principal Director of Mobilization, Planning, and Requirements in the Reagan Administration.

A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, he served as a Marine fighter pilot early in his career. He earned his MBA from Cornell Unversity. Timperlake is a board member of the Vietnam Children’s Fund, a pro bono effort to help rebuild elementary schools throughout Vietnam. He lives with his family in Annapolis, MD.
