Some of his favorite sports books include Big Hair and Plastic Grass, Dan Epstein’s wonderful ode to baseball in the 1970s, Dirk Hayhurst’s Bullpen Chronicles, and Bill Pennington’s Billy Martin, as in-depth a biography as you will find about one of baseball’s most compelling personalities.

He is married to his wonderful wife Cara, a native Long Islander and clinical psychologist who has enthusiastically embraced his love of the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. They have one son, Andrew, a ten-month-old who is just learning to maneuver himself around. They live in Fairfax, Virginia.
