Robert J. Hutchinson is an award-winning travel writer and religious journalist. Much of his career has been dedicated to travel writing, as the former managing editor of Hawaii Magazine and Hawaii bureau chief for the Hollywood Reporter, but he has also written several articles about diverse religious groups.

Hutchinson studied philosophy as an undergraduate at a Roman Catholic university, moved to Israel to study Modern Hebrew in a series of uplanim––intensive six-month language courses for new Israeli immigrants––and then completed an M.A. degree at the evangelical Protestant Fuller Theological Seminary. He has previously published two books, When in Rome: A Journal of Life in Vatican City and The Book of Vices: A Collection of Classic Immortal Tales.

Hutchinson lives in Southern California with his wife and five children.
