Why is this rabbi making the case for Christian values in American society?
America's Real War
by Rabbi Daniel Lapin
Orthodox Rabbi Daniel Lapin links arms with Christian conservatives and argues that Christian values are better for American society. He also explores the Jewish faith and answers the question: Why are Jews so liberal? This hard-hitting book gives a new perspective to American religious ideals.
(continued from above)
The answer from Rabbi Daniel Lapin himself: "As an Orthodox Jew I must acknowledge that a society can only be successful if it adheres to God's basic plan. By recognizing that a battle is raging and that, right now, Christian conservatives are leading the side I believe is morally, historically, and intellectually correct, I find myself linking arms with those so many of my coreligionists vilify."
Rabbi Lapin does more than link arms with Christian conservatives. In America's Real War, he takes up their battle with an outspokenness that few Christian leaders would risk, for fear of being tarred as "intolerant" -- or worse, "anti-Semitic." Not that he's immune to such smears himself; he just sees them for what they are. “It is time for us to recognize the charge of anti-Semitism for what it often is: a political weapon intended to silence critics of liberalism.”
But exposing such dishonest tactics is only a part of Rabbi Lapin's larger project -- which is to reveal how "liberalism's unrelenting opposition to God" is "the overarching phenomenon that is destroying key areas of our culture." This, he argues, is America's "real war": a fateful struggle between "those who see religious faith as part of the solution and those who see religious faith as the problem." In this potent mix of impassioned polemic, acute analysis, and wry rabbinical wit, Rabbi Lapin draws the battle lines and calls his fellow religious conservatives to arms. Themes and highlights:
- How Jewish-born liberals have redefined Judaism to mean liberalism -- and redefined anti-liberalism as anti-Semitism
- The alarming rise of anti-Christianism in America -- far more prevalent than real anti-Semitism
- Documented: the aggressively secular, Left-leaning agenda of most groups purporting to fight anti-Semitism. How they foster anti-Semitism by promoting socially deleterious causes
- Refuted: the ugly slander that Christianity led to the Holocaust. Its real roots in godless secularism
- The natural affinity -- and growing alliance -- between America's conservative Christians and Jews
- You've heard the canard, "The Christian Right wants to force its values down our throats." Rabbi Lapin's withering rejoinder
- Secularists as "spiritual parasites," living off the moral benefits of the religious principles they deny
- Why "all liberal policy and doctrine is predicated on atheism"
- The "unique form of atheism" underlying liberal Christianity and Judaism
- Why is only Christian participation in the democratic process perceived as a threat to the Constitution?
- Why "neutrality" toward religion in schools and other public institutions inevitably means hostility toward religion
- Why Jews have thrived in America, not in spite of America's Christian fervor, but because of it
- How secular liberal groups are rewriting the history of America's Christian roots
- The problem with pluralism: Why America can't afford to pretend that all religions are equally deserving of respect
- The forgotten social value of stigma, ostracism, and other sanctions against immoral conduct
- How countless decent Americans have been unknowingly conscripted into supporting the homosexualist agenda
- God and free-market economies: Why do religious nations prosper? Why have atheist ones delivered only poverty?
- What the Bible teaches about the unique value of gold and silver. Long-term implications for our "paper" economy
- The Bible's unequivocal endorsement of private property rights
- Our tax system: "an experimental laboratory for secularist social engineers"
- Liberal Jews would have you believe that Judaism sanctions abortion and homosexuality. Rabbi Lapin sets you -- and them – straight
“Some of us have known for years that Rabbi Daniel Lapin is one of America’s most perceptive and courageous social and political commentators. This fearlessly provocative book will show the rest of the country that we were right.” --Michael Medved, author, radio talk show host, film critic
“Great teachers impart lessons that endure for ages. Rabbi Lapin is a great teacher, and he demonstrates that the foundation of American democracy is nothing less than the foundation of Western civilization itself: the moral principles of our Judeo-Christian heritage. All who cherish freedom and the rule of law are in his debt.” –U.S. Senator John Ashcroft

A wonderful read for all. Regardless of religion this is a book that any one in or interested in politics should read. The common sense take on why we have "Under God" in the pledge. Why America is the most Jewish friendly country in the world. And great rationale for the difference btween God based thought and Darwinism. True a must buy and own.
