Antonin Scalia: An American Original

America, and the conservative movement, lost a constitutional lion yesterday with the surprise passing of US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia.

He was the leader of the judicial originalist movement, fearlessly defending the US constitution throughout his tenure on the court.  Originalism is the practice of defering to the actual text of the law and the original intent of its being in order to render decisions.  This was in stark contrast to the leftist ideology of judicial activism – the concept where courts should unconstitutionally legislate from the bench.
