“If no candidate has the majority on the first ballot, I believe that you should only choose from a person who has actually participated in the primary. Count me out.” — Rep. Paul Ryan

I do think the man is smart enough to steer clear of anything that looks like an effort to side step the primary voters. The anger level of several thousand Cruz & Trump voters is not something a sane man would risk.
I know some have stated their preference for a Democrat over either Cruz or Trump, but the fallout of that decision may be politically prohibitive. Some of the GOP elite’s avoidance of the convention signals a fear of being tainted by any perception of high jinks. After all, his seat on the gang of 8, and it went nowhere, still hangs around Rubio’s neck & will for a long time.

If Paul Ryan said he will not accept a nomination for the presidency then take him at his word. After all if he is serious about not accepting let see if he is a man of his word and values. He just became Speaker of the House why not see how he does before putting him in another position. Let’s take him at his word.

“Within the first eleven months, we canceled or delayed over 1,500 planned regulatory actions, more than any previous president. Instead of eliminating two old regulations for every one new regulation, we have eliminated 22! We aimed for 2 for 1, and in 2017, we hit 22-1.”
“I promised we would pass a massive tax cut for the everyday, working American families who are the backbone and the heartbeat of our country…. We want to give you, the American people, a giant tax cut for Christmas. And when I say giant, I mean giant.”
