In a discussion with James Rosen on Fox News, conservative pundit George Will said “When you have, in the Carrier case, political power used to bring pressure upon a privately owned institution… you are, in effect, at the end of the day, getting the federal government involved in capital allocation. There is a name for that, it’s called socialism.”

I agree with George Will. Trump followers are so snowed by him they can’t conceive anything he says or does might not be good.

George Will is and always has been a pompous ass. He pretends to be Conservative by being a purist, but he knows we have political enemies abroad and cannot have a pure free trade system allowing our enemies to destroy us in the short run before the long run economic realities arise. In the long run, the Communists take over your country because you have no industry and you live in the dark ages for 100 years. How long did it take Russia to emerge from Communism? It has never emerged because they killed morality along the way and the effects are still destroying Russia after 100 years. All of us would be dead in the long run George so I am not buying what you are selling.

This man is a Traitor to the American People, He is a Globalist that wants a one World Government with no borders, like the EU in Europe, he also is a RINO. He is among the SOB”S that set up the trade agreements that Trump needs to cancel.
December 10, 2016,7:20 pm
OReilly labeled George will a hack and he proves it every time he opens his mouth. I am surprised Fox even retains this lightweight democrat-leaning doofus.
December 10, 2016,6:53 pm
George Will is acting like a spoiled child, he quit the Republican Party now he wants to not even give the man a chance. Go sit in the corner George, your out of line.
December 10, 2016,6:06 pm
Oh for heavens sake… Trump just wanted to make good on a promise he made during his campaign. With his new tax plan corporations will stay put on their own. Give the guy a chance!
December 10, 2016,2:30 pm
Screw Mexico!! I’ve been there quite a few times. They HATE the U.S.A.. If it wasn’t for the U.S.A. Supporting the ENTIRE Mex.’Beaner’ Nation- with Foreign Aid, Tourism, Oil Sales, Remittance from Mexicans [working Here Illegally, AND Collecting Welfare] , that Banana Republic Nation would Cease to Be!. Anything Trump does to F–k with Mexico and the Sell-Out corps. that move there, is OK with me!
December 10, 2016,2:00 pm
George Will is too senile to comprehend the political realities.
December 10, 2016,1:19 pm
Corporations don’t pay taxes. Only individual citizens pay taxes. Corporations consider taxes as operating expenses that they can’t write off, so they roll them into product pricing. When that makes their product non-competitive, they move their factories to someplace with lower taxes. Combine that with the need to find lower labor costs, they leave America. Two reasons labor costs are so high here are personal income taxes and high product prices caused by corporate taxes and sales taxes. High taxes are caused by excessively big government. Thus, Conservatives press for lower taxes. Would that it were that simple!
I don’t know the answer, that’s why I vote for people who I HOPE are much smarter than me. What I do know is that offering a single corporate entity a tax break so they don’t flee is bribery. Threatening to increase taxes on a company
to prevent them from leaving is government interference in free markets. Call it communism, call it fascism, but it’s NOT Capitalism, nor is it Trump coming up with a brilliant new plan to save America, it’s just the SOS in a new wrapper.
December 9, 2016,8:51 pm
It wasn’t socialism or Marxism or fascism, it’s called capitalism at work. Pence is still the governor of Indiana and as such he was able to offer tax incentives to Carrier and they agreed to keep some of the jobs in Indiana as a result. It wasn’t as many jobs as Trump and Pence had hoped, but for the 7-800 people whose jobs were just saved, I’m sure they will be having a merry Christmas, and I hope to see many more businesses bringing back jobs due to a better tax structure for businesses which will have a positive impact on all Americans.
December 9, 2016,9:57 am
Will is technically correct. It IS socialism. But it’s also an opportunity for Trump to show he was serious about bringing American jobs back from foreign factories (with cheaper workers). He’s now made his point, and it shouldn’t have to be repeated. In fact, just today APPLE decided ON ITS OWN to begin relocating some assembly jobs from Indonesia to the USA. This ISN’T socialism, because the company decided to do it — nobody forced them.
Trump can’t bring home all the jobs that have been outsourced, and trying to do so would be a BIG mistake. But if American companies — especially big ones like Apple — see that under the tax regime imposed by the Trump Administration, bringing back their jobs makes economic sense FOR THEM AND FOR THEIR STOCKHOLDERS, THAT is a victory.

“One thing evident from this thread is near half the so-called “conservatives” on here aren’t conservatives. They obviously have no idea what true conservatism stands for.”
I’m glad I’m not the only one who’s noticed.
The Dems are fond of calling Republicans fascists, having no idea what the word actually means. More congratulations to Trump for finally providing a solid base for their charges.
December 8, 2016,11:14 pm
Oh, yeah, BTW Helen, Your comment about George Will is ageist. That’s about the only group that Trump missed offending during the campaign, so congratulations on filling in. He may have an opening on his staff for an observant speechwriter.
December 8, 2016,7:51 pm
One thing evident from this thread is near half the so-called “conservatives” on here aren’t conservatives. They obviously have no idea what true conservatism stands for. Folks, conservatism stands for small government, free market economics which feature severely limited government action in the economy and low taxation. You who cheer what Trump did with Carrier demonstrate you are as progressive on a nationalist level as the democrats are on an international level. Open your eyes and your ears and learn, otherwise you will be the ones cheering as our Republic dies and your freedoms die with it. George Will is right!!!
December 8, 2016,7:47 pm
I’m NOT your sweetie.
The Wicked Witch of the East is a made up movie character.
Hillary is history.
The current POTUS is soon to be history.
Donald Trump is our (immediate) future.
THAT’S the difference.
December 8, 2016,7:47 pm
Will is mostly correct. The one place where I would clarify by more clearly defining what Trump is doing is by saying Trump is actually practicing Fascism, a form of National Socialism as opposed to international Socialism, aka, Marxism. The one is as bad as the other for the free man!
December 8, 2016,7:43 pm
George will is old and senile. He has seen his day sometime ago. Edwin S., you said no one knows who he (Trump ) is. Well, sweetie, we did not know nor will we ever know who the current POTUS really is, due to all his records being sealed. So, as the Witch from the East (Hillary) would say,” What difference does it make?”
December 8, 2016,7:38 pm
George Will is partially correct. However, Trump’s bullying of Carrier more closely resembles fascism rather than socialism.
December 8, 2016,7:01 pm
“Drastic times call for drastic measures.”
Didn’t Hitler say that? Or was it Stalin? Fascism? Communism? Who cares? It’s the Donald!
Amazing how Trumpies can justify anything he does.
December 8, 2016,6:20 pm
Drastic times call for drastic measures.
If the GOP and the Dems hadn’t gotten us into this place with trade imbalances and all the jobs going OUT of the US and corporations being hit with the highest taxes on the planet, then draconian measures wouldn’t be necessary.
December 8, 2016,5:53 pm
Will is perfectly correct. Socialist countries pressure individual companies to tow the line. A broad policy that applies to all equally is one thing, picking and choosing with no legal baseline is another.
December 8, 2016,5:32 pm
Get ready Trumpies, it’s gonna get worse! He is what he is, and he ain’t what you hoped. Fact is, nobody knows who he is. What day is today?
December 8, 2016,5:15 pm
George is so far removed from the average American! He is close-minded and has never had to worry about supporting a family. President Elect Trump saved close to 1,000 families! What the hell did stuck-up Wills ever do? George Will is a nasty, old fool.
December 8, 2016,5:13 pm
Since when is George Will a conservative? He’s been a progressive as long as I can remember, and I’m 60 years old.
December 8, 2016,4:33 pm
He is right. It is Big Government. What happened to a level playing field?
December 8, 2016,4:28 pm
Just another liberal news hack. God these people drive me nuts!
December 8, 2016,4:23 pm
George has flipped his lid!!! Poor George!
December 8, 2016,4:22 pm
Trump may look good now but I’m very worried about the long run….I believe he will incite too many foreign enemies and get us into one big war.
December 8, 2016,4:21 pm
George Will and all the establishment croonies are afraid of Trumps upcoming and much needed Term limits!
December 8, 2016,4:15 pm
Stop your whining CEO’s you don’t even own the companies you just get fat pay while the employees do all the work and get no credit but you get all the fancy perks. Don’t need your opinion because you know what they say about opinions…
December 8, 2016,4:14 pm
What a disappointment George Will is, he has been in the bubble too long.
December 8, 2016,4:11 pm
“When It Comes To Donald Trump, George Will-Not!”
December 8, 2016,4:11 pm
Taxing imports is not socialism.
December 8, 2016,4:11 pm
He is a RINO Traitor and a One ZWorld Order supporter , a Biderberg Member. We have had what he says for a number of years and look where America is at.
December 8, 2016,4:09 pm
I agree completely with George Will He is a conservative who believes in capitalism and the free market whether or not you agree with Trump doing this, Will is accurate in his description of what it is, which is not conservative economics by any means
December 8, 2016,4:06 pm
George is way off base this time.
December 8, 2016,4:02 pm
Poor George. No one listens to him any more. George Will is to punditry what Pete Rose is to baseball. He’s never getting back in. All he can do is try to eek out a living on what he once was.
December 8, 2016,3:57 pm
George Boy has gone off the deep end about Trump. I personally cannot stand him, will not look at his face, which means I watch no show that he appears on, and cannot listen to him talk. He obviously thinks he is so far above the normal person that he does not breath the same air that we do. Reminds me of Harry Reed when he said the people standing in line had an odor about them that he could not tolerate. Well, I cannot tolerate George Will. He needs to see a shrink (maybe his buddy that is on the show with him) and get his head on straight. If he thinks anyone is listening to the garbage that is coming out of his mouth, he is wrong. Fox needs to get rid of him and FAST!!!
December 8, 2016,3:55 pm
Will is suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome, an ailment common among pompous bloviators. I now read his columns, if at all, with a shaker of salt handy.
December 8, 2016,3:54 pm
George Will is an absolute idiot !!!
December 8, 2016,3:50 pm
In a special exclusive author interview with Ivana Trump, she reveals who she voted for in the 2016 presidential election, the charming story of how she and Donald Trump first met, and the life lessons she instilled in the First Children – Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka Trump.
“Hillary Clinton and her husband sold out America to the Russians while millions of dollars flowed to their family foundation. And in the process, Clinton created a massive national security risk for every man, woman, and child — giving Vladimir Putin control over American uranium.”
