I really like PBS and they have great programing. I don’t think the government should take anyone’s money and give it to someone else. We need to let the citizens support the programing they like and make government smaller and less expensive. Why should someone who is poor, have the added responsibility of paying for something that is not necessary for anything other than entertainment.
March 26, 2017,3:08 pm
They are constantly having shows to raise money. I will be watching a great musical program then here comes 30 minutes of talking heads begging for money. Let them get their money that way.Stopped watching their news shows a long time ago because they are only commercials for the loonie left. Sorry, no more money for them out of our tax dollars.
March 26, 2017,7:40 am
No public tax money for PBS. It needs to be defended ASAP. It is biased like mainstream media. Only presents the radical communist point of view.
March 26, 2017,6:38 am
Yes. defund PBS…let Soros continue funding it. We do not want our tax paying dollars going to left-leaning outlets.
March 26, 2017,5:35 am
PBS news hour, BBC America and other news on PBS is clearly against America it only supports the Democratic line of NOT neutral unbiased reporting. Wen they say there the 4 branch of government and WE will force Trump to conform to our way. My tax dollars should not support them.
March 26, 2017,1:57 am
It’s a wonderful public station for the children.
March 25, 2017,8:02 pm
No one says they should end the channel… just don’t need our taxes dollars going there as well…many many channels survive without tax dollars

PBS is a partizan hack and Big Bird is RICH, RICH, RICH. Let him fund himself.
March 25, 2017,1:48 pm
PBS was funded at the start as a “educational aid ” and has grown into a profitable business making million of dollars is sells. They on longer need our support.
March 25, 2017,1:42 pm
PBS should not receive any taxpayer funding – state or federal.
March 25, 2017,1:39 pm
They don’t need government funding just like planned parenthood!!!!!!
March 25, 2017,1:38 pm
PBS should be funded by State money not Federal money!
March 25, 2017,1:35 pm
Hell yes defund PBS!!!!!!!!!!!
March 25, 2017,1:33 pm
The orginization that must be defunded that noone is talking about is the ACLU. Since it is run by left wing communists lawers, let them pay their own way in destroying this once great nation.
March 25, 2017,1:32 pm
Only Assholes would agree to defund PBS
March 25, 2017,1:31 pm
Let those who love to use other people’s money — use their OWN money to support PBS!
March 22, 2017,12:15 am
You say and talk about Muslims and their rights and not to bring religion into it. but what about all the killings that come at the hands of those Muslims who cry out for religious freedom. our nation was created on freedom of religion for all not just the Muslim religion.wake up America look where we got to today by our pity on a religion threatens our own freedom.and those that sympathize with them. why don’t the democrats and sympathizers move overseas to their country and see what happens from then on.
March 21, 2017,7:58 pm
anyone president trump elects will be questioned and vilified by the democrats and their leader in the back round Obuma. get his ass out of Washington and really out of this country.back to where he really come from.let his Muslim friends take care of him. or shoot the damn bum.
March 21, 2017,7:48 pm
The BPS station is always having fund raisers from the public. They take in lots of money so they more than likely don’t need much from the Gov. Worth checking out.
March 21, 2017,5:42 pm
They are to one sided with their news. Their fund raising is a continual thing.
They should be self supporting, they receive donations from large corps.

There are some hard choices to make when we are so deep in debt. There are also easy choices to make. Defunding public television is an easy choice. Those who enjoy the programming can contribute to keep their local station on the air. It is the same as paying for a premium cable channel or Netflix.
March 21, 2017,8:54 am
I’m torn on this one. Our kids watch too much junk tv. PBS attempts to educate. PBS is also the only place for quality programs with class, for adults.
March 21, 2017,7:16 am
What is wrong with people? Don’t you see we are deeply in debt ? We have to cut back now to safeguard the future, and there are some luxuries we can
Pick up again in the future. The GOP is trying to damage control and save
Our precious country. We know PBS has brought in millions. Let private
Enterprise prop up the arts
Yes we need to support the arts.
Trump is doing his best to make everyone happy. Allow him to do it.
March 21, 2017,5:59 am
If its Public Broadcasting, why do they need government funds.
March 21, 2017,4:12 am
PBS has stated that “We do not need Federal Funding”. So cut them off.
March 21, 2017,4:10 am
give the money to the military for a raise
March 20, 2017,11:11 pm
Get rid of PBS! If not, then, for every liberal piece they show, they must show an equivalent conservative piece. None of this showing primarily liberal junk.
March 20, 2017,11:06 pm
PBS leans left! They would have to be neutral to get my vote!
March 20, 2017,10:52 pm
I’ve seen this battle fought (and lost) SIX TIMES. Every time
PBS and NPR (the REAL liberal outlet!) come up for reauthorization (and as federal spending goes, it’s a pittance!),
PBS/NPR members come out of the WOODWORK and SCREAM to high heaven, until not even the most conservative members are willing to cut them off. (The problem is,
PBS has something that EVERYBODY likes — not all the same programs, of course, but SOMETHING. There’s Sesame Street for the kiddies, Masterpiece for literate adults, Poirot for not-quite-so-literate adults who like mysteries, and drama/ballet/opera and whatnot for the longhairs. And of course the liberal stuff too, but even people who HATE the liberal stuff might like Masterpiece of Poirot or their kids watch Sesame Street.
The irony is that the Children’s Television Workshop (which produces Sesame Street) makes SO MUCH PROFIT from the sale of toys, DVDs, and so forth that they don’t NEED the money from PBS. But of course they still WANT it.
Anyway, we’ve been trying to defund PBS since the NIXON ADMINISTRATION, and NEVER succeeded. If Trump can pull THIS off, he’ll be a certified MIRACLE WORKER. Good luck!
March 20, 2017,9:28 pm
PBS is just another FAR LEFT WING Communist controlled entity of democratic party. It is my humble opinion that anyone out side of the Armed Forces (Who have SKIN in the game.) who is employed by the tax payer should be they at the peoples pleasure. Can by severed for any reason. Including political. Just look at the IRS, DOJ, Dept. of Education and EPA examples. Where the FAR left Socialist/Communist infection is DEEP !
March 20, 2017,8:20 pm
PBS has gotten very liberal.
March 20, 2017,8:02 pm
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PBS for info on PBS and ownership.
March 20, 2017,7:36 pm
Isn’t HBO paying for the Sesame Street programs now?
March 20, 2017,7:24 pm
The head of PBS makes about $900,00 per year, next guy around $650,000. They make billions off the products from Sesame Street and the oldies stuff. Plus all the people that send in money to them and their tax exempt. So their now way strapped for cash like they make out to be.
March 20, 2017,7:17 pm
Already funded by SOROS
March 20, 2017,7:12 pm
This program is nothing more than a leftist indoctrination tool. Throw the bums out and let the left support its own camp.
March 20, 2017,6:32 pm
I hope that President Trump can defund PBS, it’s way to Liberal for my taste and I watch a lot of shows on the PBS channel here in Oklahoma.
March 20, 2017,6:31 pm
I hope folks realize that the higher ups in pbs are making over $600,000. a year. they can cut their salaries in half and still have plenty to live on, also they can give the other half to their station.
March 20, 2017,6:12 pm
PBS has their hands out in everything they do. I once sent them some money, and the irony is that I’m a conservative, and I didn’t know they had federal funding.
March 20, 2017,5:56 pm
Pbs makes enough money. The tax payer has had enough. We now have a great man looking out for us.
March 20, 2017,5:53 pm
All of the libs brings out Big Bird but forget to show the Crucifix in the jar of urine.
March 20, 2017,5:49 pm
PBS is the best channel on TB and certainly the most honest. They also broadcast worthwhile programs other than a steady diet of murder and sex. They support the BEST OF THE ARTS WORLD!!!
March 20, 2017,5:43 pm
Defunding appears to be appropriate.
For fiscal year 2014, its appropriation was $445.5 million. There are plenty of educational networks for parents to watch with their children. For example: National Geographic, Discovery, The Smithsonian Chanel.
I personally agree that the government should defund and that the money can be better spent.
March 20, 2017,5:20 pm
I do not think the Government needs to pay for PBS…. they are owned by HBO! They can pay for it themselves. Not only that, the money being made off of the licensing for Sesame Street makes MILLIONS!
The Military needs to be taken care of WAY before PBS or the Arts. If people want to support the Arts, then they can do it privately. I watch PBS and every single time I watch a program on it, they are fundraising…. let them pay for it without Government subsidies.
March 20, 2017,5:14 pm
Please eliminate the entire program. Hard earned dollars forced to be paid in taxes were not meant to be wasted on social engineering and high paying jobs for well connected know nothings.
March 20, 2017,5:09 pm
I voted for Trump and I don’t think he should defund PBS it is very educational and family programming obviously the people who want to define it have no young children because that is who you are hurting if PBS goes off the air.
March 20, 2017,5:09 pm
It interferes with competition in the free market. No government subsidy!
March 20, 2017,5:04 pm
PBS has been spewing Liberal and Socialist propaganda for most of its existence. If people want to watch it let them pay for it, not the taxpayers who do not want it.
March 20, 2017,5:01 pm
In a special exclusive author interview with Ivana Trump, she reveals who she voted for in the 2016 presidential election, the charming story of how she and Donald Trump first met, and the life lessons she instilled in the First Children – Donald Jr., Eric, and Ivanka Trump.
“Hillary Clinton and her husband sold out America to the Russians while millions of dollars flowed to their family foundation. And in the process, Clinton created a massive national security risk for every man, woman, and child — giving Vladimir Putin control over American uranium.”
