7 Things You Never Knew About Andrew Jackson

6) Jackson served in the American Revolutionary War — as a child. 

Although Jackson is most closely associated with the War of 1812 for obvious reasons, Jackson did serve in the local militias during the American Revolution as a courier. Jackson was only 12 years old at the time, having entered the militias with his brother Robert after the death of another brother, Hugh.

Jackson would end up seeing battle at the Battle of Hanging Rock on Aug. 6th, 1780.
