PODCAST REVIEW: Conservative Book Club

If you’re a burgeoning young politico who loves devouring the latest political memoirs and policy books, then I have the podcast for you. Conservative Book Club has existed as a news and book content website for years, offering interviews with some of the top conservative authors. Now, they’ve got aural and you can download the podcast, of the same name, wherever you get your podcasts.

So far there are twenty one episodes, released weekly, all between 15 and 40 minutes long. They’re perfect for a commute. Some recent guests have included Ainsley Earhardt of Fox and Friends talking about her new memoir, The Light Within, and Dennis Prager with his new book, The Rational Bible: Exodus.  These are great interviews. They’re both humorous and packed with content about the book and the political moment they were written in.

Personally, my favorite interview done so far on the podcast was with Tim Scott and Trey Gowdy on their book Unified. Not only is the book a great testament to their friendship, so is the interview. It’s like hearing life-long best friends talk about each other, with reverie and regard, but also with jabs and jokes. That interview was what got me really excited to read the book. I ended up blowing through it in one setting.

While this is the conservative book club, they don’t just focus on modern day conservatism. They also cater to history buffs: with discussions of John Wilkes Booth’s love life, Captain George W. Starks and the Coffin Corner Boys, etc. This isn’t your typical history podcast where they lay out what happened with the facts and figures, this is a discussion on how we know what we know, why it isn’t talked about more, and what it means for us now and the way we interact with history.

But wait, there’s more. The Conservative Book Club Podcast, like their website, also tackles some broader issues such as historical revisionism and liberal Hollywood through related reading and modern day political discussions.  I anticipate there will be more of these discussions to come both outside of author interviews and interwoven in them.

If you’re looking for your next podcast to binge, love conservative politics and books, then check out Conservative Book Club wherever you get your podcasts.
