Norman Podhoretz

Norman Podhoretz is an American neoconservative pundit and former editor for Commentary magazine.

A native of Brooklyn, Podhoretz received undergraduate degrees in English from Columbia University and in Hebrew literature from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. The recipient of a Kellett Fellowship and a Fulbright Scholarship, Podhoretz earned another undergraduate degree and a master’s degree from Clare College, Cambridge.

Podhoretz served as Commentary magazine’s Editor-in-Chief from 1960, when he replaced Elliot E. Cohen, until his retirement in 1995. He has been married to Midge Decter since 1956, and the couple has two children.
