BIOGRAPHY — Matthew Spalding

Matthew Spalding, is the Director of the B. Kenneth Simon Center for American Studies at The Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C.

Spalding is an expert on American political history, constitutionalism, religious liberty, and civic renewal. An adjunct fellow with the Claremont Institute, he is the author of A Sacred Union of Citizens: George Washington’s Farewell Address and the American Character and the editor of The Founders’ Almanac. He holds a Ph.D. in government from the Claremont Graduate School.
