The year 2017 was a big year in conservative publishing, building on 2016’s momentum and the wild ride of President Donald Trump’s first year in office. Book topics tanged from the 2016 election analysis to the Fake News media, to politically correct college campuses, and the annals of American history. Newt Gingrich’s Understanding Trump led the pack this year by thoughtfully analyzing what exactly “Trumpism” is, the populist, nationalist movement behind it, and explored the world view and political positions of the 46th president.
The books were selected by the Conservative Book Club editorial review board. The criteria used to select the books and their placement on the list were based on their overall influence, sales, conservative themes, and best mirrored the cultural and political battles of 2017. Honorable mentions are also listed.
“In 2017, conservative books enjoyed a Pax Conservatism in American publishing,” said Christopher Malagisi, Editor in Chief of the Conservative Book Club. “These books were driving the conversation this year and reflect the times in which they are written.”
The Conservative Book Club’s weekly conservative bestseller list is independently created and the selection of books for the weekly list is determined by the Conservative Book Club.
