Is Colin Kaepernick Disrespecting Dead Soldiers?

by Bradley Matthews

Colin Kaepernick may think the flag and anthem stand for oppression, but thousands of heroic soldiers — and people like MLK — died for his freedom to protest America. See the cartoon and tell us what you think in the comments!

The guy is a jerk. How many of those oppressed people has he helped with the millions he gets paid to play a game. Best he should go play in Canada, if that is the way he feels.

Daniel, I guess you haven’t read my posts in the past. I am a strong, conservative Christian woman who also happens to be the mother of son who is a member of the LGBT community. I will and have fought even on this website the jackasses who try to take my son’s rights from me. I have been vocal about the Never Trumpers (the Holier-than-thou Club). You are preaching to the choir. However, you are wrong about Kaepernick. He is an ungrateful loser. No one is disputing his right to do this, but he is an ass. He was raised by two white parents. He hasn’t experienced any of this stuff he is so-called protesting against. He is a moron. Why doesn’t he protest the real issue (Black-on-Black crime). Do something constructive for GOD’S SAKE! He is a moron. Erdman, many of us don’t feel as you do. You are cowards.

Laura Holmes: I have nothing to make amends about! I support equal and civil rights for all citizens. Being Catholic, I do oppose abortion, but short of a constitutional amendment to ban it, we will do nothing about it. Sitting on the porch and barking just annoys everyone else. I oppose the “police state” we are becoming. I oppose Evangelical Christians and their total bullshit. You conservatives have gone so far to the right you are ISIS-like in your speech and proposed actions. And Mark F says “keep your personal feelings to yourself!!!” Damn, if only people like that clerk in KY who refused to issue same-sex marriage licenses. She is a civil servant, so she should have kept her “feelings to herself” and did her damn job! So many hypocrites on this site! If the WASP’s in this country would STFU, we’d all be better off! Having spent my working years in Federal service, while at work, you keep your opinions to yourself. I was also the union President and shop steward, and for some reason it was these 2 so-called devout Christian women who were attacking the gay employees, and I had to bitch-slap them both into next Tuesday. They were expressing their religious freedom. Not on my watch! Especially when attacking fellow employees! Damn, I still hate Holy Rollers!

By not showing respect for our nations flag which soldiers have lived and died under yes he shows disrespect to me and anyone else that has served this country. He should be kicked out of the sport and make an example to other players and owners that when you play you keep your personal feelings to yourself!!!! The BLM should be treated as a HATE Group just as the KKK is treated. What would happen if everyone in sports showed their personal feelings the way this jerk did on nation wide TV, the game would be over before it started.

“I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free. I won’t forget the men who died who gave that right to me and I proudly STAND UP next to her and defend her still today. Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land. GOD BLESS THE U.S.A.” Daniel, you are so caught up in your own arrogant, self-absorbed, narcissistic personality that you can’t see the light of the moon. You should maybe, since you’re retired and have nothing better to do, take an American History class. Maybe as an adult you will understand the gravity of what these men and women have done for you that affords you the right not to stand or place your hand over your heart when the American anthem is playing. The only people who would vote Democrat are the people who live on the Government dole, who had their gravy trains provided by the Government with a taxpayer paid job, or those without a moral conscience. When you are out and about today, you should maybe make amends for your idiotic comments and thank the servicemen and women that you run in to today for their sacrifice and service. You should also thank the hard-working American taxpayer who paid your salary and gave you the lifestyle that you have. Your lack or gratitude is not a flattering character trait.

Liberal/socialist are people seaching for an identity, you are confused so you join the club of the confused, nobody is talking about the legality of this football player, s actions, we are all entitled to our opinions, so trying to intelectualized is out of place, if i called a liberals/ socialists mother a rat breeder that wouldn’t be illegal but it certainly would be disrespectful, this football player shouldn’t have disrespected our national anthem, with his actions, he is an ungrateful bastard thats the truth,.

Many of you here talk about punishing this QB for not standing? Really? Oh, and you are forgetting that there is NO draft in America now. No one is forced to join the military. It’s different during times of conscription, but we have a volunteer force today. And when did standing during the playing of the Anthem become a military respect thing? You Tea-Baggers can manage to twist anything, can’t you? I’m a liberal/socialist retired Federal employee. I used to thank all of you every other week on payday! I used to be a Reagan Democrat, but you’ve gone so far right that it forced me to make a left turn! I don’t even like football and actually never heard of this guy until he refused to stand. Much ado about nothing! I recall during the Vietnam era when returning servicemen were spat upon. The hippies were way out of line then, just as today’s radical environmentalist hippies are. My major was journalism with a minor in political science. It’s his right to remain seated. Get over it! There is no law that says we must stand.

Maybe he will quietly disappear into the sunset, alternatively some husky linebacker with good judgement may rip his noggin off.

Is that Dr. King? The same Dr. King who compared American troops in Vietnam with Nazi concentration camp guards? He and Kaepernick are from the same deck of cards.

Some people have trouble understanding how great it is to live in this country. Many people have given up there lives to assure that he is able to fulfill his dream. I wonder how much of his $29 million earnings he has given to the less fortunate people.

Daniel, Seriously, you again. You are on the wrong website. You’re right about one thing. No one would make you stand because several hundred thousand men and women in the United States Military and in the Civil War fought and died for you to have that right. You are an ungrateful jackass along with your friend Kaepernick. Here’s the thing, it you don’t like America, GET OUT, no one would care. It is obvious to the intellectual being that you are not a veteran. You are too much of a coward to ever be a veteran. You couldn’t win a game of chess. Only the strongest, bravest, most amazing type of man or woman could be a veteran or an active-duty soldier. The people are in a league of their own. You, sir, are a sad, pathetic little, little man.

That’s right Colin Kaepernick is a total grace to the NFL and America,he should not be allowed to play for one complete season and his money withheld, maybe then he will learn his lesson, men and women have died so he could have a plush life in the United States of America and he refuses to stand in memory of these men and women and the flag give me a freaking break.

It’s a sign of a pretty weak intellect to believe that the Stars & Stripes is a symbol of oppression — the number of people who, legally and illegally seek to live here would seem to directly counter his argument. How about just a little gratitude to a country that allowed CK the opportunity to make millions and live in freedom? And for those that gave their lives to make it and keep it that way? “Free speech and free expression”, as commenter Daniel proclaims, only identifies one as a disrespectful, unappreciative jerk when misused. Far too many people in this country with a chip on their shoulder.

I AM a veteran and it is a big deal to me. You should be proud to stand and show respect.

He has no respect and no appreciation for those who are willing to sacrifice their lives for this country’s freedom. He reminds me of President Obama. No respect. No appreciation. Very arrogant.

I will exercise my right to NOT watch him or the 49ers play.

  20. Daniel

It’s his right of free speech and free expression! Who cares if he stands or not? Not this liberal Democrat. Why are you Tea-Party Conservatives getting your panties all up in a bunch over this? I’m not a veteran, but the ones I know even think that this is “much ado about nothing”. You wouldn’t be able to force me to stand, or place my hand over my heart! Why not find something else to bitch about?

Like Obama, this unappreciative Democrat has been given all of the benefits of a free country and the prosperity that neither one contributed to. My bet is that he, too, has been influenced by Islam. Our flag represents the freedom of the oppressed –the slaves and all others who came here for a better life. But Muslims don’t admit the obvious facts and this ignorant, overpaid, disrespectful, spoiled brat (I’m being kind) is ignorant and gullible.

The first amendment gave us all the right to be sleazeballs and Colin Kaepernick took full advantage of that right….His body has more tattoos than a busy tattoo parlor….His days as a 49er are numbered and it will be good riddance…..
