Congratulations Grace Morgan on being our Conservative Book Club “Member of the Week!” Tell us a little bit about yourself and the work you do as Deputy Events Director at the American Conservative Union.
Thanks! I’m honored. Similar to my boss, Carin, I never planned on working in events. I was a criminology major in college and planned on attending law school (still haven’t ruled this out). I’ve always been politically motivated because my dad pushed me in that direction. After interning at CPAC 2015, I fell in love with Washington D.C. and ACU.
I was offered a full-time position at ACU after my internship last summer and I was recently promoted to Deputy Events Director. In this role, I juggle many different tasks such as sponsor communications, CPAC speaker invitations, and planning the agenda. I’m also the intern coordinator, so I manage the hiring of interns and plan exciting opportunities for them throughout the semester that hopefully enhance their experiences in conservative activism.
I never would have imagined myself in the tick of planning the annual largest gathering of conservatives but I am nonetheless truly blessed to be working with some of the best people in DC!
What got you interested in politics, and the work you currently do?
My interest in politics started with my dad. He raised me to understand and appreciate conservative values. I had never planned on working in politics, but after interning at CPAC 2015, I knew it was for me.
The opportunity we have to educate Americans about the ideas of our founding is critical, and working at ACU helps me connect with the grassroots to combine ideas with action. It is crazy to think about how many unique opportunities I have had in such a short time—I certainly know I’m making my dad proud!
What big plans are in store for CPAC 2017? How will the 2016 election results influence your programming?
We are really excited for CPAC 2017 because regardless of who wins the election, we have an incredible opportunity to educate our attendees. We want people to understand that when you boil it down conservatism is the political philosophy that sovereignty resides in the person.
Tell us a little more about yourself!
Why did you join the Conservative Book Club? How is the user experience beneficial to you?
I joined the Conservative Book Club because it provides great access to conservative books, old and new. It is a great resource for people who are searching for the “right” outlet.
