Politico speculated that it would be Trump’s “final death spiral” — or at least that was the hope of the media, which orchestrated the tape’s release at a very opportune time. They thought it would be the October Surprise that sank Donald Trump and ensured a Hillary Clinton.

Despite their best attempts, Donald Trump brushed off these tapes as “locker room talk” and won the presidency.
