11 Virtues Biblical Widows Have Taught Us All

Faithfulness

The story of the widow of the prophet Obadiah is a famous one, and for a good reason. Told in II Kings 4: 1-7,  the story of the widow and her pot of oil reminds us all that anything is possible with faith.

Her strange usage of pots, which were filled with oil that could be sold to keep her sons from being sold into slavery to pay off debts, shows how faithfulness can pay off.  Think also of those who loaned the widow pots and the faith they must have had in this faithful woman.
