Hugh Jackman is back in the saddle as Wolverine, taking on the “Old Man Logan” comic plot in this latest X-Men offering. The Wolverine we see in this movie is old and weary, living in a grain silo with a demented Professor Xavier with a mysterious past. The plot revolves around a genetically engineered little girl who has Wolverine’s set of powers, seeking to escape her former captors.

Logan isn’t most superhero movies — it takes on issues like genetic engineering and the value of human life with a deftness one wouldn’t normally expect from the genre. It also struggles with old age and mortality, which are two other themes often eschewed by other superhero films.

Logan stars Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart and was directed by James Mangold. It has a Rotten tomatoes score of 93%.
