John Oliver Trolls Pence’s Daughter Over Children’s Book

What started as a mother-daughter project to create a sweet children’s book about being the vice president, has turned into a political mudslinging match. Charlotte and Karen Pence’s book is called Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President and a portion of the proceeds goes to Tracy’s Kids, which provides young cancer patients with art therapy, and A21, an anti-human trafficking nonprofit. The day before the book release, John Oliver, host of HBO’s irreverent Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, released a children’s book spoofing the Pences’ version that also disrespects Vice President Mike Pence’s beliefs.

In Oliver’s book, Marlon Bundo is a gay bunny who finds love despite the oppression and hatred he faced from his family. Supporters of Oliver’s parody version also sabotaged the Pences’ book with fake, negative reviews. This tactless attack shows how low liberals will stoop to take down a worthy cause because of someone’s affiliation with a conservative.

Charlotte Pence graduated from DePaul University with a double major in Digital Cinema and English. Her written work has been published in magazines, such as those affiliated with the University of Oxford, where she studied for a year as an undergraduate. Charlotte works in creative development at Epiphany Story Lab, a production company that produces films and teaches students about filmmaking. She is also the proud mom of Marlon Bundo.

“The Pences’ book was a sweet gesture that was ruthlessly attacked for no reason by the Left,” said Christopher Malagisi, Editor in Chief of the Conservative Book Club. “Leave it to liberals to turn a sweet project for a good cause into a political debate.”

Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates: The Forgotten War That Changed American History
