After the 2015 Charleston church shooting, the state of South Carolina desperately looked for ways to unite its people and found it in an unlikely duo. Sen. Tim Scott and Rep. Trey Gowdy, both Republican legislators in South Carolina, joined Congress in 2010 and developed a friendship despite their very different upbringings, life experiences, and racial identities.

In Unified, Scott and Gowdy, through honesty and vulnerability, inspire others to evaluate their own stories, clean the slate, and extend a hand of friendship that can change your communities, churches, and the world.

Rep. Trey Gowdy is a former state and federal prosecutor who experienced the criminal justice system firsthand for nearly two decades. In 2010, he was elected to Congress and is now in his fourth term. He is known for his prosecutorial questioning of congressional witnesses and for overseeing the Benghazi congressional hearings that revealed that Hillary Clinton had a private email server. Sen. Tim Scott is the first African American to be elected to both the US House and US Senate since Reconstruction, and is known for his Opportunity initiatives to help disadvantaged communities.

“As hyper-partisanship has gripped the nation two statesmen come together to offer solutions how people from diverse backgrounds can unite,” said Christopher Malagisi, Editor in Chief of the Conservative Book Club. “These two leaders are beginning a conversation this society needs in the polarizing times we live in.”

Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates: The Forgotten War That Changed American History

For many Americans, war in the Middle East and against Islamist fundamentalists dates back to a sunny Manhattan morning in 2001, or at the earliest, a brief skirmish in Kuwait in 1991. Seeking to disabuse their readers of this notion, Fox News’s Brian Kilmeade and journalist Don Yeager have teamed up to write the brief but entertaining “Thomas Jefferson and the Tripoli Pirates”, recounting the early United States’ war against North African pirates.

The story begins in the 1780s, […]
